The La Crosse Public Library and Coulee Partners for Sustainability are pleased to announce the winners of the 2013 Earth Fairposter contest. Over 300 entries were submitted from area elementary schools, including Ettrick Elementary School, Franklin Elementary School, Summit Environmental School, Trempeleau Elementary School, West Salem Elementary School and from the Boys & Girls Club of Greater La Crosse; judging done by UW-La Crosse Art Education students.
This year’s Earth Fair theme is “Going Green in 2013” and the top three winners will receive their prizes at 11:45 at the Earth Fair on Sunday, April 21, at the EcoPark. The first-place poster will be showcased that day in the program schedule.
o The first place winner is Alex Knerzer, 3rd grade, from Summit Environmental School. Alex will receive a bicycle from Smith’s Cycling & Fitness. Alex's 3rd grade class will receive a free bus trip to the National Eagle Center in Wabasha MN, funded by a grant from the La Crosse Community Foundation.
o The second place winner is Jack Hehli, 3rd grade, from West Salem Elementary School. Jack will receive a $50 gift card from Downtown Main Street, Inc.
o The third place winner is Magei Farley, 3rd grade, from West Salem Elementary School. Magei will receive a $25 gift card from Downtown Main Street, Inc.
4th place: Marlie Voigt, 5th grade, Summit Environmental School; 5th place: Haley Patterson, 3rd grade, West Salem Elementary; 6th place: Canaan Schwarz, 3rd grade, West Salem Elementary; 7th place: Lacy Harper, 3rd grade, West Salem Elementary; 8th place: Shiwa Xiong, 2nd grade, West Salem Elementary; 9th place: Rachel Stein, 3rd grade, West Salem Elementary; and 10th place: Taylor Meyers, 5th grade, Summit Environmental School.

Earth Week 2009 events were held at multiple locations, including Earth Fair, which was held at Three Rivers Waldorf School. 2009 was the first year Coulee Partners for Sustainability hosted Earth Week activities, including the Earth Fair along with UW-L Environmental Council, with Patty Ries as Co-chair!
